Ainsley Campbell powered his way down the track.

CHAMPIONS Windsor, Slough, Eton & Hounslow's Young Athletes team made a great start to the defence of their national title with a resounding victory in the Southern Premier match.

They finished over 80 points clear of hosts Team Southampton on Sunday with Tonbridge AC third and Aldershot, Farnham & District AC fourth.

WSEH also provided the track athlete of the match winners in George Butler and Georgie Lamothe.

The WSEH under-17 men dominated throughout the day. The match started with runners-up places and personal bests for Cameron MacRoberts (1 minute 05.8 seconds) and Nathan Ditton (1.11.8) in the 400m hurdles.

The 200m saw Ainsley Campbell and Seamus Burke scoring a winning double and Campbell went on to record another victory in the 400m, this time with Rikki Letch as his partner - this time with the Channel 4 television cameras rolling for a new sport documentary.

The 800m saw a repeat of the WSEH points monopoly with Elliot Woolmer and Connor Vine providing the action.

WSEH loosened their grip slightly in the 300m where Keegan Lymn was second in but Alex Goodall won the B string. There were second places in the 100m hurdles from Alex Peden and MacRoberts.

The rolling tide of success returned in the 1,500m steeplechase where Ditton (4.44.8) and James Tidd (4.56.2) saw off the opposition.

WSEH's domination continued in the field events. Alex Peden and David Walker emerged winners in the high jump. There was a surprise winning double in the triple jump from novice jumpers Charlie Smith and David Walker.

Burke won the long jump and Ryan Barrett and Mark White scored another double victory in the discus. The hammer saw White repeat his winning streak but this time supported by Teo Kubeinato take maximum points.

The lone WSEH winner in the under-15s came from Richie Harvie in the 1,500m with a personal best of 4.33.5. Mitchell Turner and James Barry were runners-up in the 100m with good performances from Michael Christian, Oliver Carroll, Gurlal Randhawa and newcomer Cameron Crwaford in the field.

In the under-13s, match award winner Butler produced a hat-trick of wins in the 100m, 200m and long jump. Gus Cockle was the best of the WSEH distance runners, winning the 1,500m and newcomer George Bourne was second in the high jump.

The concluding relay events saw WSEH continue to reel in the points with a win in the under-17 4x400m event and second places in the under-17 4x100m and under-13 4x100m.
