CHESHAM returned to winning form in Division Two of the Home Counties Premier League after a six-wicket victory against Burnham on Saturday, writes Rob Stevens.

The home side won the coin toss and elected to field first at The Meadow, with Burnham making 143 runs all out in 43 overs.

Number four Raza Ali Dar was the leading runs scorer with 46 from 63 balls, including seven boundaries.

Matthew Warner led the Chesham bowling attack with his figures of 4-25 from 11 overs, which included wicket of Asim Zaka for a duck. He was backed up by Nouman Aslam, who took figures of 3-32 from 11 overs.

Chesham managed 145-4 in 37.3 overs in response for the win, which sees them stand in fifth position in the league table.

Opening batsman Alex Morgan top-scored with 56 runs from 93 balls, including seven boundaries. It is his second half-century of the season and takes his average for the summer to 34.43. He and Robin Pritchard (28) put on 61 runs for the third wicket.

Farhaan Khan was the pick of the Burnham bowlers with his figures of 2-61 from 15.3 overs.

The defeat means Burnham are now three matches without a win and stand in seventh place in the league ahead of a return to the The Memorial Ground for the visit of table-toppers Oxford this Saturday (11.30am start). Chesham make the short trip to county rivals Cookham Dean.

Cookham Dean are now five matches without a win in the league following their five-wicket defeat at Thame Town last weekend.

The Dean have not won since the victory over Harefield last month and are now in eighth position in the league table, three points above the relegation spots.

Thame won the toss and chose to field first at Church Meadow, with the visitors bowled out for just 66 runs in 35.1 overs.

Captain and opening batsman Ben Millar was the leading runs scorer with 32 from 68 balls including six boundaries. He was however the only batsman to reach double figures.

Faisal Ali was the destroyer-in-chief for the hosts with his figures of 5-24 from 16.1 overs, which included the wicket of Jonathan Parker for a duck. It is his second five-wicket-haul of the season and takes his average to 13.84.

Thame managed 67-5 in 26.3 overs in response for a seventh win this summer to take them to third place in the tale and a single point behind the promotion spots.

Number five Thomas Bamford top-scored with 26 runs from 55 balls, whilst Wasim Ahmed was the pick of the Cookham bowlers with figures of 4-36 from 13.3 overs. His victims included captain and opening batsman Michael Beard for a duck.

Amersham are now four matches without a win in the league after a 48-run defeat at leaders Oxford last weekend.

The visitors won the coin toss and elected to field first at the Oxford University Press Sports Ground, with the hosts making 174 runs all out in 55 overs.

Number four Muhammad Ayub was the leading runs scorer with 58 from 83 balls, including six boundaries and one maximum hit. It is his fourth half-century of the season and takes his average to 43.07.

Maduka Liyanapathiranage was the best of the Amersham bowling attack with his figures of 5-60 from 20 overs, which included the wicket of Shamilal Mendis for a duck. It is his second five-wicket-haul of the season and gives him a new average of 16.16.

Samuel Helm took the wicket of Robert Keat for a duck in his 5-64 from 21.1 overs - his second five-wicket-haul of the summer and an average of 18.36.

Amersham managed 126 runs all out in 48.5 overs in response for a defeat which sees them remain in the two relegation spots.

Number three Luke Jackson top-scored with 40 runs from 76 balls, including four boundaries.

Samad Fallah led the Oxford bowling attack with his figures 6-33 from 15.5 overs, which included the wickets of opener Acheen Rajapaksa and Stuart Rogers without troubling the scorers. It is his second five-wicket-haul of the season and gives him a new average of 12.64.

Amersham will bid to regain the winning thread with a visit to Shardeloes from bottom side Dinton this Saturday (11.30am).
