LIAM Moore’s future may have taken a new twist this afternoon after Reading FC’s star player was left out of Royals’ matchday squad.

The 25-year-old allegedly handed in a transfer request yesterday in order to push a move to the Premier League.

Moore was not selected for the squad to face Crystal Palace in Royals’ final pre-season friendly.

The former Leicester City defender is expected to secure a Premier League move in the coming days having been closely linked with Brighton & Hove Albion throughout the summer.

Royals have already knocked back several bids for Moore but reports suggest the defender has now taken matters into his own hands.

Should Moore leave, the move could see Paul Clement re-ignite his interest in Aston Villa defender Tommy Elphick.

When asked about the former loanee, who has since returned to Villa Park, Clement said recently: "As we speak we have four central defenders in John O’Shea, Liam Moore, Paul McShane and Tiago Ilori.

“If that stays as it is there won’t be a need to bring in another centre-back. But if that changes then it’s a different situation.”
