ASCOT United have been busily adding to their squad.

Newcomers include goalkeeper Sam Gray, who has previously played for Maidenhead United and Blackfield & Langley and winger James Haworth from Fleet Town, while Calum Ferguson, who had a brief spell at the club in 2017, has returned following spells at Yate, Marlow, Beaconsfield and Maidenhead United.

United lost 1-0 to Chertsey in a friendly played at the Bisham Abbey National Sports Centre last weekend, the only goal coming from Connor Harbridge.

Ascot will open their Hellenic League fixtures on August 4 with a trip to Bishops Cleeve, relegated from the Southern League, while Binfield visit Ardley United, promoted from Division 1 West.

Last weekend, the Moles drew 2-2 at Camberley in a friendly.

Wokingham & Emmbrook lost 2-1 at Kintbury on Friday and by the same margin at Sandhurst the following day.

Joe Cummuskey put the Sumas ahead, but defender Sam Green levelled before half-time.

After that, the game could have gone either way, but it was a fine finish by Callum Samuel that secured victory for the Fizzers.

Sumas manager Dan Bateman commented: “We played two very good sides and, although narrowly edged out in both games, we used almost 30 different players over the weekend, so there are going to be some big selection headaches coming up.”

Wokingham & Emmbrook have won the Berks & Bucks FA’s Charter Standard Club of the Year award.

Holyport and Tattenhoe were the other nominees.

The Volunteer of the Year vote went to Pinewood’s Martin Turner.

The late Nick Markham of Finchampstead was also nominated. The club’s former secretary died from cancer in February.
