WOKINGHAM District Schools’ Represntative Team Under 11s followed up their Surrey League title victory with more silverware as they secured a first-ever Southern Counties championship success following a 3-0 win against Oxford District.
Wokingham started the game with great focus and determination and were rewarded early on with a delightful chip over the on rushing keeper by Emmaunel Osho.
The lead was doubled before half time thanks to some great work from captain, Emil Mursalov, who produced a fine cross for Ejiro Abbey to tap home from close range.
Wokingham continued to frustrate Oxford in the second half and went 3-0 up after Abbey set up Amar Bakkati who calmly slotted the ball into the bottom corner, and they defended stoutly to keep a clean sheet.
Wokingham head to Jersey on Saturday for the annual English Schools’ FA District Football Jersey Festival.
They will then compete in the South West Regional Finals of the Danone Nations Cup and in the Premier League District Football National Finals in June at Liverpool FC’s Melwood Training Ground as one of the 10 best district associations in the country.
