MARK NISBET admits reaching the second round proper of the FA Cup with Slough Town this season is one of the biggest highlights of his career.

Nisbet, 30, believes Slough had the confidence to win at Gainsborough Trinity and he insists The Rebels produced a great team performance to win 6-0 on Saturday.

The centre back told the Observer: “I’ve not been a part of a performance like that in the FA Cup first round or that kind of massive game. It was a great team performance and the win was well deserved.

“I’ve been to the first round five times but never got through, so to tick this off is massive and definitely one of the highlights of my career.

“I had an opportunity once when Maidenhead United had Horsham who were two leagues below us (2007-08 season), but we lost and that was one of the biggest upsets for me.

“We had confidence on Saturday after the results we’ve had recently and beating teams from the league above already.

“We would feel comfortable in the league above with the players we have, so the result is a statement to the league we’re in.

“There isn’t much of a difference from the league above to the one we’re in now, the bottom half and the top half are the same.

“We were confident we could win and not just come for the draw and take them back home. We thought we were going to win and we proved that.

“Once it got to 3-0 you could see Gainsborough crumbled, they fell apart and we picked them off.

"The first-half was nervy being the first round of the FA Cup, but in the second-half we dominated the game "We done everything right, the preparation was and training was good. The management done their research and homework and it was spot on."

Nisbet continued "Our confidence is sky high and there’s is low. We deserved the win and we were ruthless.

"We could have taken our foot off the gas and sat off but we didn't and that is all credit to the players. They just wanted to keep going and score goals which is good."
