LAST weekend saw only two RDAA clubs out on the waters with one on the River Kennet and one on the Thames, writes Alan Hughes.

Reading Fishing Club held their match on the Beat Four stretch of the Kennet at Rose Kiln Lane.

This area has proved to be the best part of the Kennet in the Reading area and Pete Budagi drew the same peg that had won the Teams of Four Championship the weekend before.

The fish were still shoaled up and Budagi went on to plunder 12lbs of roach and perch. In the runner-up spot was Mick Fairey with 5lbs 4ozs of roach and completing the trio was Dave Bosher with 4lbs 10ozs. Bosher had one small chub in his net but managed to lose a much bigger one.

Reading Civil Service used the Mapledurham Beat One stretch of the Thames for their match and Ian Marcham led the field from start to finish, amassing 9lbs 15ozs of quality roach.

Jeff Brown claimed the runner-up spot with 5lbs 6ozs of the same species and taking third spot was Richard Minday with 5lbs 3ozs of roach and perch.

Just upstream of Mapledurham is Hardwicke and this is where Tilehurst Royal British Legion have their stretch of water.

This was much harder than Mapledurham and Chris Humphreys only needed 3lbs 8ozs of silvers to take the top spot.

Fred Jones claimed second place with 3lbs 5ozs and Paul Leek completed the top three with 2lbs.

The Tuesday Club fished Pangbourne Meadows on the Thames and John Ambrose took the honours with an all roach net that took the scales down to 10lbs 4ozs.

Bosher claimed second place with 9lbs 4ozs and Third spot went to George Callaghan with 8lbs 4ozs.
