MARK LALLY believes that Slough Heating Laurencians will need some team consistency in order to climb the Premier Division table this season.

Slough finished in eighth position last season and fifth in the 2015-16 campaign, and Lally hopes that summer signings will make them a tough side to beat this term.

The Church Lane-based club registered their first win this season after a 3-0 victory against Frontline on Saturday thanks to goals from Calvin Morgan, Rob Smith and a volley inside his on half by Jack Aitkenhead.

Speaking to the Observer, Slough manager Lally said: “It was a tough battle but a good 3-0 win.

“We should have won by a few more goals because we were on top for most of the match but we couldn’t take our chances until the last 10 minutes. We scored in the 80th and 84th minutes to make the game safe.

“We missed a few chances but as soon as the second goal went in it deflated them to be fair.

“Frontline battled well to their credit and never gave up at all. Of course they could have nicked a goal but I can’t remember our keeper having to make too many saves.”

He continued: “We’ve got plenty of players signed on this season so if we can get them turning up every week then we will be a tough team to beat.

“We’ve not done that well in the last couple of seasons but we’re looking to push on up the league.

“If we can turn up every well then we will have half a chance of pushing up the league. We’ve signed new players so we can push on and do well.”
