GREAT Hollands BC clinched the Kennet League Division Three East title despite suffering their first defeat of the season to runners-up Maiden Erlegh (87-71, 12-2 on points).
The rink of Ray Furnell, David Bradley-Brock, Don Foote and Bill Cheale sealed the title by claiming two points for their 21-15 victory.
Dave Sutherby, Fred Payne, David Horton and Mitch Mitchell lost 22-17, while George Harris, Frank Townsend, Bob Rhodes and John Treanor were beaten 28-17.
Terry Harmer, Ken Perrett, Peter Hurrell and Brian Ramell lost 22-16.
The champions ended their campaign with an emphatic 95-47 (12-2) triumph against basement boys Wokingham C.
Harmer, Bradley-Brock, Hurrell and Ramell were the stars, winning 34-8, while Harris, Townsend, Rhodes and Foote prevailed 24-10.
Furnell, Perrett, Mitchell and Cheale won 21-6, with Sutherby, Payne, Horton and Treanor the only losing rink (23-16).
In the Thames Valley Ladies league, the Wrens beat Palmer Park 60-45 (8-2). Sheila Stickland, Jean Williams and Irene Bradley won 28-10, Carolyn Lofthouse, Myrtle McMoneagle and Angie Sherfield triumphed 17-14, while Sheila Ledbury, Bridget Cruickshank and Rose Reason lost 21-15.
Great Hollands finished runners-up in Division One East of the Kennet LV League, beating Desborough 53-41 (8-2) in their final match.
Sutherby, Townsend and Treanor won 23-14, Ramell, Perrett and Harmer came out on top 17-9, and Furnell, Mike Bowden and Harrris lost 13-18.
The B team lost 49-27 (10-0) to Sunningdale A , with the victors finishing as runners-up and reaching the county play-offs, while the C team were well beaten 58-35 (8-2) by Suttons B in their Division Three Central East clash.
Great Hollands D lost 50-42 (9-2) to Woodley B, although Robert Dearman, Paul Damiano and Les Sutherby won 23-9 which included a hotshot on one end.
l SUNNINGDALE – inspirfed by the top rink of Mike Bateman, Don Allston and skip John Turner – beat Wargrave 57-34 (10-0) in Division Two of the Kennet LV League.
The club lost a mixed friendly at Windsor and Eton despite a victory for Rita Harden, guest player Jill Barker, Les Green and skip Derek Cooper.
Sunningdale ladies were also beaten in another friendly at Chertsey.
