MANAGER Roger Herridge described Binfield’s 4-3 FA Cup victory over Chichester City as a “great result”, writes Dave Wright.

The Moles came from a goal down to win their preliminary round tie at Hill Farm Lane and secure another home game, against Horndean, in the next round a week on Saturday.

They scored twice in each half with Sean Moore, Brad Pagliaroli, Danny Langford and skipper James Knight the men on target against their Southern Combination opponents.

Herridge said: “We knew they (Chichester) were going to be strong opposition, as they were close to winning their league last season, only missing out when they lost their last few games.

“They were a good technical side with also a bit of strength, so we’re delighted to have beaten them.

“We responded well to going a goal down and again when they pulled it back to 2-2.

“We won comfortably in the end, although in the final five minutes we were trying to take quick free-kicks and doing things too quickly rather than slow the game down, that was the only disappointing thing for me as it wasn’t doing my hairline or the heart much good.”

Herridge added: “It a great response from our (2-0) defeat at Wantage on Tuesday.”

Moles played for 80 minutes with 10 men following a red card for Joe Grant although Wantage also had a man sent off just before the hour mark.

“I think if we had 11 players for the whole game, we would have won, as the sending off killed us a bit,” said the Binfield manager.

“We will play a lot worse than that and win.”
