BRACKNELL Bees have continued to strengthen for the 2017/18 National Ice Hockey League Division 1 South season with the signing of defenceman, Tom Avery.

The 26-year-old played for Bees Stingers, Drones and Hornets teams as he progressed through the club’s youth ranks.

After helping Hornets win the ENL South Championship in 2010, Avery moved to Chelmsford Chieftans and then to Invicta Dynamos. Spells with Slough Jets and Oxford City Stars followed before he re-joined Hornets last season, notching a goal and an assist in 18 games.

With more than 280 career appearances to his name, Avery will bring experience to Bees head coach Scott Spearing’s side.

“Tom has bags of talent and even more potential than some realise,” said Spearing. “He is super calm on the puck and can make great plays in the crucial areas.”
