READING FC flop Paolo Hurtado has sealed a permanent move to Portuguese side Vitoria de Guimaraes for a fee of around £500,000, writes Jacob Potter.

The 26-year-old struggled to nail down a place in the Royals side having been signed by Steve Clarke in August 2015.

The Peru international made a mere six first team appearances before being loaned to Vitoria in January 2016.

He has remained there ever since, making 38 appearances for the Portuguese top-flight side, scoring seven goals.

A year ago Royals boss Jaap Stam hinted he could bring Hurtado back to Madejski Stadium until visa problems scuppered a return.

Hurtado has now signed a four-year deal with Vitoria after passing a medical yesterday and he could line up against Portuguese giants Benfica in the Super Cup next week.

The Peruvian winger is the latest player to leave Royals this summer after Danny Williams rejected a new contract to sign for Premier League new boys, Huddersfield Town, goalkeeper Ali Al-Habsi joined Saudi big-spenders Al-Hilal for £300,000 and striker Dominic Samuel moved to League One Blackburn Rovers for around £500,000.

In addition, Yakou Meite (FC Sochaux), Danzell Gravenberch (KSV Roeselare), Andrija Novakovich (Telstar) and Deniss Rakels (Lech Poznan) have all be sent out on long-term loans.

Lichtenstein midfielder Sandro Wieser has been told he is free to leave, while Academy graduates Niall Keown (Partick Thistle), Jack Stacey (Luton), Tariqe Fosu (Charlton) and Zak Jules (Shrewsbury) turned down new deals to play regular games elsewhere.

Ex-Academy duo Craig Tanner and Aaron Kuhl were also released when they contracts were not renewed.

Tanner has now signed for Scottish outfit Motherwell while Kuhl is training with Aldershot.

Meanwhile, Stam has brought in three new players this summer after landing goalkeeper Vito Mannone from Sunderland for £2m, Wolves striker Jon Dadi Bodvarsson for £1m and Ajax Jong midfielder, Pelle Clement, for around £600,000.
