THE two latest East Berkshire Golf Club champions were celebrating for very different reasons.
Teenager Harrison Arnold won the men’s club championship recently for the first time in his fledgling career after a thrilling tussle at the top of the leaderboard.
The 17-year-old shot a superb 137 over 36 holes to win the tournament in style.
In fact, the Crowthorne-club’s youngsters had a weekend to remember as Bradley Tuckett, also 17, hit the best nett score of the day with 135.
But if Arnold and Tuckett were new to the winner’s circle, the same could not be said of Laura Webb.
Her wonderful card of 141 over 36 holes was enough to win the ladies championship for a staggering 14th consecutive year.
Webb’s victory also meant she retained the Garnett Bowl, while Karen Thompson won the Amor Cup for best nett score with an impressive 140.
The winners were presented with their trophies and prizes in the clubhouse by the current men’s and ladies captains.
