READING AC’s veterans finished their season on a high, as three new club records were set at their final league match at Abingdon, two of them by new team members.

Luc Jolly knocked 45 seconds off the M35 3,000m record; Sian Rollings, competing in her first ever track race, set a new W50 record for 5,000m; and Kevin Cranmer secured his seventh club M35 record, as he added discus to his collection.

In the 2k walk, Phil Smart was third in the M35 race (14m 46.4secs), while in the 800m, Lucy Daniells took a good second place in the B race (2:45.5).

Linda Church unleashed a fast last 200m to win the W50 event (2:57.2).

The 200m saw top-three placings for Reading AC in every race.

Hari Sewell secured a good victory in the M50 race (26.2s), Cranmer was third in the M35 A race (25.3s), and Michael Dzandu second in the B race (27.9s).

Daniells and Claire Mills were third in the W35 A and B races, with times of 30.7s and 32.3s respectively, Church was second in the W50 race (33.3s), and Tony McCreery was third in the M60 event (12:47.7).

In the ladies' 5,000m, Sue Francis gained three places in the last two laps to finish third in the A race (20:36.3), while Julie Rayfield secured a good second place in the B-string (21:30.2). Rollings’ W50 record-setting time of 22:19.1 gave her second place in the W50 category.

Reading also scored very well in the field events.

McCreery was a clear winner of the M60 javelin (30.84m) and Dzandu second in the M35 (35.95m).

Cranmer won the M35 pole vault (2.65m), Julie Wilson triumphed in the W50 discus with a season’s best distance (29.12m) and was runner-up in the shot (9.24m).

Cranmer’s record-breaking discus throw gave him second place in the M35 event (29.92m), while Jan Drzewiecki secured the same position in the M50 competition with a long throw of 34.93m.

In the 4x200m relay, Church, Francis, Mills and Daniells (pictured) finished third (2:13.1).

Reading ladies finished third in the match, and the men fourth, with their results meaning overall the side were third.
