SUNNINGDALE Bowling Club's mixed team lost their Beake Bowl first round clash at Byfleet, with the second home leg due in August.

Sunningdale Ladies lost 57-46 to Bracknell, despite boasting a winning rink of Margaret Ward, Rita Harden and Pam Kiddell (skip).

In the Thames Valley Ladies League, Sunningdale beat Great Hollands Wrens 68-30 for an 8-2 points win.

The highest scoring rink for Sunningdale of Janet Spencer, Gill Dickson and Kathy Edwards (skip) included a hot shot.

In the Kennet League, Sunningdale defeated Desborough B 85-59 for a 12-2 points win with a highest scoring rink of Les Green, Colin Shefford, Don Allston and John Turner (skip).

In the Kennett LV League, Sunningdale B won 50-45 at Maidenhead Town C and 8-2 on points with a highest scoring rink of Alf Chell, Barry Hobbs and Keith Steels (skip).

The A team beat Wraysbury 65–31 at home to secure all 10 points with a highest scoring rink of Les Green, Bob Montgomery and Dennis Bailey (skip).

Windsor Great Park

WINDSOR Great Park stars Ron Willett (skip), Gail Dorey plus new bowlers Jane Kemp and Bill Hook were on fire in scorching heat on Sunday.

The quartet took top rink honours and recorded a hot shot (all eight bowls) in a competitive mixed friendly against Windsor & Eton, helping the Great Park to win 91-82.

The KLV League Division Three side continued with their winning form by gaining eight points against Windsor & Eton C team to keep them top of the table. Charlie Dorey skipped Bruce Cox and Bob Ridley to take top rink honours.

Windsor had earlier beaten Bracknell B 54-34 with skip Charlie Dorey, Ridley and Ron Patten leading the way with top-rink honours.

Dorey (skip) and Pam Simms pulled off a close 17-15 win against Maidenhead Town in their County Senior Pairs quest to take them through to the quarter-finals.

The men's team played four triples at Reading and came away losing 76-53.

The ladies team had a one-shot away defeat to Camberley. The side were held up by skip Dorey, Ann Patten, Joan Winter and Sandra Lane.

Windsor Great Park played its inter-club triples on Saturday in soaring heat with Mick Russell, Kemp and Gail Dorey plus Charlie Dorey, Lane and Winter battling through two 18-end games to finals, to be played in September.

Skip Willett, Ron Ford and Charlie Dorey pulled off a close win in the County Benevolent Triples against Great Hollands. They drew level on the last end to force an extra end where they managed to score three shots, taking the win 20-17 to put them through to the second round.

Gail Dorey played at Great Hollands in the County Champion of Champions event and had a clear 21-16 win to take her through to the quarter-finals at Wokingham.

The Great Park mixed team had a conclusive 130-49 win against Burnham, victorious on all six rinks. Andy Watson skipped Kemp, Winter and John Yates to a top rink victory.

The Windsor ladies had their first victory of the season, winning by two shots against Ashford with top rink honours going to Clare Beahan (skip), Viv Martin and Pat Yates.

Great Hollands

GREAT Hollands Wrens lost 68-30 at Sunningdale in Thames Valley Ladies League. The only winning rink was skipped by Carolyn Lofthouse with Margaret Worsfold and Mary Bowden.

In the Kennett League, Great Hollands defeated Twyford 97-51 for a 14-0 points win.

Ray Furnell, Terry Harmer, Bill Cheale and Mitch Mitchell had the highest winning rink by 30-7. David Brown, David Bradley-Brock, Don Foote and William Van de Venter won 21-13; Dave Sutherby, Steve Daniels, Peter Hurrell and Mike Stickland won 27-13 while George Harris, Frank Townsend, Brian Rammell and John Treanor won 19-18.

In the Kennet LV League, Great Hollands A team thrashed Maidenhead Town B 80-23 for a 10-0 points win with a top triple of Brian Rammell, Terry Harmer and George Harris (37-7).

Ray Furnell, Mike Bowden and Bill Cheale won 22-8 with Dave Sutherby, Frank Townsend and John Treanor winning 21-8.

The B team lost 47-45 at Maidnehead Thicket and 8-2 on points.

Richard Clark, Fred Payne and Tim Barrett (18-15) were the only winning triple.

Henry Bone, Gerry Austin and Dave Anderson lost 13-12 with Mike Stickland, Bill Cruickshank and Don Foote losing 19-15.

The C team played Wokingham D and won on two of the three rinks for a 72-34 victory and 8-2 win on points.

The D team defeated Suttons C 48-42 for an 8-2 points win.

Bill Heffill, Robert Dearman and Stewart McMoneagle won 17-12; Neil Lofthouse, Paul Damiano and George Auret won 18-13 while Norman Bullock, Paul Chapman and Les Dykes lost 17-12.
