READING Blue Coat were involved in a remarkable game against St George’s, Weybridge, on Saturday, ultimately losing by 201 runs in a game where 46 6s were struck.

The destroyer-in-chief proved to be visiting batsman Will Jacks, who struck a barely credible 279 from just 133 balls having been dropped early in his innings.

His departure slowed the run rate a fraction, but St George’s were still able to rack up a massive 531-8 in just 50 overs.

There was only one way for Blue Coat to about their challenge, and until the 10th over the home side were up with the rate on 116-1 after 10 overs.

Eddie Lee was the main man with the bat for Blue Coat, scoring 83 off 44 balls, but a middle-order collapse ended any faint hopes of a stunning run chase.

First XI debutant Toby Greatwood impressed as he smoked the ball to all parts, scoring 75 of 53 balls before falling.

With Jamie Etherington also batting well to score 69, Blue Coat were eventually dismissed for a credible 330.

  • BRADFIELD College enjoyed a superb weekend as they crushed The Oratory by nine wickets on Saturday.

Mikey Williams top scored with 46 as Oratory were kept to 181-7, and Charlie Gwynn’s unbeaten 99 saw Bradfield home with 93 balls to spare.

They then won the opening round of the Schools T20 competition the following day, beating Lord Wandsworth (91-9) by six wickets, and then Wellington College (93) by nine wickets in the final.
