ARCHIE Fritz of Mortimer completed his first London Marathon in aid of Breast Cancer Now after two family members were struck down by the disease.

And the 24-year-old, a director at Interim.Team, had to call upon every last ounce of strength to complete the gruelling course.

He explained: “I ran for Breast Cancer Now because my grandma had breast cancer and I also lost my mother to cancer not long ago.

“I appreciate that it's a really terrible thing that affects a lot of women every year so I wanted to contribute in any little way I could to making a difference.”

He added: “Breast Cancer Now is an amazing charity that does invaluable work in fighting the disease and I was proud to run the marathon on their behalf.”

However, it was far from easy going for Fritz after he suffered a knee injury 10 miles into the race.

“I hurt my knee but managed to carry on,” stated Fritz, who finished in a time of 5h 45mins. “It was tough going but worth it.”
