BINFIELD FC manager Roger Herridge thought a 3-0 defeat at Thatcham Town on Saturday was a harsh scoreline, but admitted the Kingfishers did show “that little bit extra,” writes Dave Wright.
He continued: “Thirty minutes into the game, with the wind in our faces, we looked comfortable and could have led with James Knight and Grant Kemp both having one-on-ones with their keeper Chris Rackley.”
The Moles fell behind in the 38th minute when they were slow to react to a quickly-taken Thatcham free-kick and allowed Shane Cooper-Clark to nip in behind and score.
Binfield’s defence were again caught out a minute before the interval.
Three defenders were close in proximity to Sam Collier at the far post, but they still allowed him to get in a header from a deep cross from the Thatcham right.
Herridge commented: “Even at half-time I still thought we could get back into the game as we had the wind in our favour in the second half.
“But despite a lot of huffing and puffing, we didn’t really trouble Rackley in their goal.”
The Moles fell further behind on 77 minutes when keeper Mo Nyamunga dropped a cross under pressure to leave Josh Helmore with an easy chance.
Herridge added: “It was never a 3-0 game overall, but Thatcham certainly deserved to win.”
Binfield are without a game this weekend.
