BINFIELD produced a fine display to beat mid-table rivals Royal Wootton Bassett in their Hellenic League Premier Division clash at Hill Farm Lane on Saturday.
Jon Bennett scored an excellent opening goal on 10 minutes and had several other chances alongside January’s player of the month Liam Ferdinand, although the visitors went into the break on level terms courtesy of Dan Bailey’s strike midway through the half.
The Moles improved in the second period and Ferdinand came up with the goods in the 55th minute to put them back in front.
Late drama meant Jack Broome ended the match in goal after Mo Nyamunga suffered a calf injury, but he excelled with a 20-minute clean sheet and some safe handling as the visitors put crosses in the six-yard area.
And when Luke Hayden added his 10th of the season in the 89th minute, the points were safe for Roger Herridge’s side.
