READING synchronised swimming star Katie Clark is to dip her toe into new waters.

“I am going to do a mixed duet,” she has revealed.

The 22-year-old Olympian’s partner will be Connor Hill, a coach based in Leeds.

“We decided to pair up and see how it goes,” said Katie.

“It is the first time there will be mixed duet in Great Britain and hopefully we are going to do well.”

Katie, a guest at the Get Berkshire Active awards last Friday, will not be performing in the women’s pairs but will continue to be part of the GB team.

In the meantime, Katie is training and coaching at Central Pool with Reading Royals, but is concerned about her club’s future.

The council-owned pool is due to close later this year.

“The temporary pool they are looking to put up is I think only 1.2 metres deep and so we cannot use that as we need a pool over two metres, even three metres deep,” she told me.

“We (Reading Royals) don’t know what we are going to do.”

  • READING Hockey Club are to stage a match in memory of long-time member Keith Hunt, who died recently.

It will take place at Sonning Lane on Sunday, March 5 (2.30pm) and will feature club and international veteran players, including former first-team captain Jon Wyatt.

Reading golden oldies Peter Wright, who plays for England Over-60s, and Alan Wade, Over-70s, are also expected to play. Both were involved in the World Championships in Australia last year.

A memorial service for Hunt is to take place at Guildford Cathedral on Monday, September 4.

ORGANISERS of the Get Berkshire Active awards, which packed out the Hilton Hotel in Reading, had to make a late change to their guest speaker.

Rio hockey gold medallist Hannah Macleod was forced to pull out due to an urgent need for surgery on her wrist, and was replaced by GB team-mate Giselle Ansley.

Giselle plays for Surbiton, and that means none of the former Reading stars have yet to be seen back in the town since the Olympics despite invitations from their old club.
