GETTING women down to a rugby club at six o’clock in the morning is no mean achievement, writes Dave Wright.

But Redingensians Rams’ regular boot sessions are proving highly successful and they have earned 'Mr Motivator' Seb Reynolds a prestigious award.

He was voted Coach of the Year at the annual Get Berkshire Active awards held at The Hilton Hotel, Reading, last Friday.

“We hold these early morning sessions three times a week,” said Reynolds, who has been holding them for the last seven years.

“It’s good for those ladies who don’t like going to gyms and prefer to get up, do a fitness session and then go off to work. We try to make it as fun as possible and each class is different.”

Reynolds is also now coaching Redingensians’ new ladies’ rugby team, the Sirens.

He is also backs coach for Redingensians Rams’ first-team squad, in addition to assisting the colts and Berkshire u-20s.

“The club is making good progress,” added Reynolds after collecting the award, sponsored by solicitors Field Seymour Parkes.

The main individual award saw Maidenhead resident Jeanette Chippington, who won the gold in the KL Paracanoe Sprint in Rio, voted Berkshire’s Sports Personality of the Year.

The Junior Sports Personality trophy went to 12-year-old visually impaired swimmer Katie Crowhurst.
