THE second of the Tom Evans Foursomes Competitions was held at Calcot Park on Sunday with more than 120 competing.

Pete Bamford and Andrew Marsh were the winners with 43 points, edging out Mike Russell and Darren Gatward (41).

They finished ahead of Steve Cox and Stuart Hogarth on countback, with Harji Bhanderi and Simon Brooker (40), and Martin Knight and Rick Sheppard (39) fourth and fifth respectively.

The Special Prize winners were Andy Cole and James Storey.

The 20 Section vice-captain, Peter Cook arranged a fun 18-hole stableford competition for its members on Saturday, using just three clubs and a putter instead of the usual 13 clubs.

Graham Harwood was victorious with a magnificent 41 points, finishing three clear of runner-up Brian Gilmartin.

The winners of the summer and autumn knockout tournaments have collected their trophies.

The Mark Mundy Trophy is open to all male members over the age of 60 and this year’s winner was Pete Honey who beat Alan Galvin in the final round, while the popular Arthur Bradbeer Mixed Foursomes was won by Calcot Park’s Junior Organiser, Graeme Russell, and his partner, one of Calcot Park’s aspiring juniors, Jessica Li.

The Harper Napier Memorial Salvers – held in memory of former club captain Stan Harper and club secretary Ian Napier – are played for each as a team event, where the best two scores count from four players.

The champions were Danny Rolfe, Tim Swift, Simon Brooker and Stuart Simmonds.

  • MATT Robertson shot the lowest round Caversham Heath has seen for a while in the Weekend Stableford at the weekend.

Playing off the yellow tees, Robertson (3hcp) recorded 14 pars and four birdies in his round of gross 69 – four under par – and a score of 43 points to win Division One.

Runner-up was Michael Beaumont (6hcp), on countback from David Stankard (6hcp), both with 36 points.

Division Two winner was David Holloway (11hcp) with 40 points. Second was Lee Kirton (12hcp) on countback from Andy Holmes, both with 39 points.

Matthew Murphy (20hcp) took the Division Three honours on countback from Geoff Parlour (19hcp), both with 38 points. Jonathon Clark (25hcp) took bronze on countback from Daniel Dover (20hcp), both with 37 points.

Twos were recorded by Keith Gilmour, Stephen Lee and Kenny Price (all on the 8th hole), Andy King and Jamie Reid (13th) and by Stephen Casey (17th).

Stuart Barnett (18hcp) triumphed in Division One of the Midweek Stableford, winning with 41 points. Runner-up was Duncan Mee (16hcp) with 39 points and third was Darren Bonney (5hcp), on countback from Andy Horn (17hcp), both with 37 points.

Division Two winner was Brian Connolly (25hcp), on countback from Lawrence Howard (27hcp) – both with 35 points – while Mick Biles (25hcp) was third on countback from Gordon Berry (19hcp), both with 33 points.
