LAUREL Park Whirlwinds gave a masterclass to Reading Juniors as they racked up a huge 93-11 victory in the Reading & District League.

Despite lots of hard work, Juniors saw a lot of balls intercepted by Whirlwinds early on, and by the end of the first quarter, the more experienced side had a 21-4 lead.

In the second quarter, the Laurel Park defence of Charlotte Morris (GK), Tamryn Lawrence (GD) and Lisa Castle (WD) stayed strong despite some good attacks, especially when the Juniors duo of Jasmine Patel (C) and Millie Cooper (GA) teamed up to move the ball around well into the circle.

However, by half-time, the Whirlwinds shooters – Lauren Joslyn (GA) and Kate Harvey (GS) – had extended the lead to 40-4.

Juniors came back in the third quarter strongly and converted their hard work into some goals which certainly lifted the spirits.

Cooper (Juniors) continued to move brilliantly in the circle and picked up a couple of good goals on the rebound.

Yet Whirlwinds continued to play solid, attacking netball, frequently turning over play with close marking and interceptions – especially by Daisy Rodgers – and after ending the third quarter 64-7 up, they powered on in the final stanza.
