WOODLEY United crashed out of the Berks & Bucks Junior Cup after a heart-breaking 8-7 penalty shoot-out defeat followed a 2-2 draw at White Horse, writes Richard Ashton.

The visitors made a poor start and fell behind on five minutes, and when young stand-in keeper Daz Ihenacho made a mistake early in the second half it was 2-0.

However, United fought back and were rewarded for their efforts on 80 minutes when an excellent interchange between Graham Dew and Danny Blatchford culminated in the latter’s left-footed shot from outside the box soaring over the head of the White Horse keeper.

Woodley levelled the match with two minutes to spare when Blatchford threaded the ball through to substitute Ed Hill who laid on a perfect pass for Dew to drill a low shot from the edge of the box past the diving White Horse keeper.

The match went straight to penalties and United were unfortunate to saw their eighth penalty saved to give White Horse a passage into the next round.
