FINCHAMPSTEAD teenager Emma Sidey has won a place in the newly-formed GB Talent Squad for competitive air rifle shooting.

Emma took up the sport six years ago at Bramshill Shooting Club and went on to represent Berkshire, England and then the GB junior squad.

The junior squad was reformed into the GB Talent Squad in 2015 which is now the official feeder to the GB Academy and ultimately the Olympic Squad.

Now Emma, the 2014 British Junior Champion, dreams of representing her country at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.

“I have my sights set on winning gold at the Tokyo Olympics 2020,” she said. “For now, my aim is to continue progressing and achieving high qualifying scores to get me where I want to be.”

Emma’s success in 2014 saw her become the only GB athlete to compete in the Junior International final the following year.

She has also secured sponsorship from her employers QTD Ltd based at Nine Mile Ride in Finchampstead.

Emma’s mum, Sandra, stated: “We are extremely proud of our daughter’s many achievements. Her focus is amazing even though her shooting has been taken slowly this year to achieve her brilliant A-level results.

“Emma is now right back on target for a gold medal. She wants to be in the next Olympic games so we are all behind her and hope that she reaches all of her goals.”

In the meantime, Emma is preparing to take on the Welsh champions next month.
