THERE were five RDAA Club matches on the venues last weekend with one on the River Kennet, three on the Thames and one on Longwater Lake.

King Heron fished the Burghfield River section of the Kennet and silver fish were the order of the day.

Steve Church led the field with 4lbs 9ozs, in second place was Sam Stilton with 2lbs 12ozs of similar species and third place went to Jeff Fisher with 2lbs 2ozs.

Following the heavy rain on the Thursday evening and night resulting in high water levels on the Kennet and Upper Thames, T.R.B.L.A.S. and Courage/SE moved to the Hardwicke stretch of the Thames.

Andy Chapman managed to take 19lbs 10ozs of silver fish to the scales and take top spot.

In the runner-up spot was Simon Couling with 17lbs 60zs and completing the trio was Andy White with 13lbs 4ozs.

Moving over to the Thames, Reading Civil Service held their match at Wallingford on the A section. Ian Marcham led the field with a mixed bag of silver fish to weigh in 10lbs 13ozs.

Gordon McGee took second spot with similar species to total 8lbs 3ozs and 4lbs 10ozs was enough to give Les Hannington third spot.

Ten anglers turned out for the Bracknell Avocets match on the B section at Wallingford.

Terry Smith took the honours with 9lbs 12ozs. Fishing, standing in the water using a 4m whip with single red maggot as hookbait fished over caster. He netted mainly bleak, small chub and roach.

New member Simon (Bomber) Harrison came home in second spot, fishing a feeder he weighed in 8lbs 1oz of perch, skimmers and roach. Brian Charman, came in third, with 6lbs 8oz, mainly roach and perch.

Longwater lake was the venue for South Reading and taking the top spot was Duncan Bales who managed to net two decent tench plus skimmers to take 18lbs 11ozs to the scales.

The runner-up spot went to Ron Cole with 9lbs 7ozs of skimmers and silvers. The remaining place was taken by Tony Green with 7lbs 11ozs of silver fish.

The RDAA Tuesday Club decided to fish the Thames at Sonning where John Berry took the honours with an all roach net that totalled 15lbs 1oz.

Similar species weighing in at 12lbs 10ozs gave the runner-up spot to John Ambrose and Morris Williams claimed the third spot with 9lbs 10ozs also of roach.
