WOKINGHAM & Emmbrook’s homecoming at Lowther Road ended in disappointment as they were beaten 2-0 by Hellenic League Division One East high-flyers Bicester Town.

Playing at their home ground following 18 months at Henley Town, Sumas fell victim to a brace of first-half Murray Nicholls goals.

The hosts rallied in the second half, but a resolute Bicester defence kept them at bay and leave new manager Clive McNelly’s side in eighth place and with work to do if they want to get into the promotion race.

Wokingham & Emmbrook host AFC Aldermaston this coming Saturday (3pm).

Sandhurst Town produced a fine display to secure a 3-2 home win in an exciting game against Wantage Town Reserves.

Alex Penney put the Fizzers in front after just nine minutes, but Alex Marshall equalised before the break and the visitors from Oxfordshire went in front early in the second half thanks to Max Hackman’s effort.

However, Sandhurst hit back and snatched victory with goals in the final quarter of an hour from Will Shaw and Maurice Black.

Sandhurst Town visit Penn & Tylers Green on Saturday (3pm).

Eversley & California’s up-and-down Combined Counties League Division One season continued as they were beaten 5-2 at home by second-placed Banstead Athletic on Saturday.

Billy Frost, Joseph Hill, Anthony Morrison, Martin Smith and substitute Nathan Oliver got the goals for the away side.

The Boars enjoyed more success in the Hampshire Senior Cup when they eased past Fareham Town 4-1 on Tuesday of last week.

They were due to play Gosport Borough in the second round of that competition last night, before making the trip to Buckingham Town in the FA Vase on Saturday (3pm).

The Boars then complete a busy week with a visit to Bagshot in the RPM Records Division One Challenge Cup next Tuesday evening (7.45pm).
