SLOUGH Town captain Sean Fraser believes moving into their new Arbour Park home will be a massive advantage ahead of their return to the town on Monday.

Rebels take on Hayes & Yeading as they move into their new stadium, and Fraser cannot wait for the occasion.

He told the Observer: “It’s very exciting. We trained there this week properly and we are trying to get used to it as best we can, but I’m sure the fans and the people there will make it something special.

“The surface is really good. It’s very flat, the ball rolls very true, which is unlike some pitches we play on.

“So playing at home will be a massive advantage to us. Obviously it will be to others as well, but we will be training there week in week out and it will suit our style of football I believe.”

And Fraser is confident the enormity of the occasion will not get to the players, adding: “I don’t think anyone should worry about it, we will all be positive.

“Everything is positive around the place at the moment so we will go out there and enjoy it, and play the way we have been.

“Hopefully we will put on a good show and secure some good wins there.”

Joint-manager Neil Baker also told the Observer: “It is massive.

“You do not get opportunities like this normally as managers or players, so to be going into the ground that we are is a massive thing for us.

“We cannot wait, it is as simple as that, but we also know that we have got a big and important three points (at Cirencester Town on Saturday) before that.

“The stadium is top draw and the surface is fantastic.”

Meanwhile, Cllr Joginder Bal, commissioner for the environment and leisure at Slough Borough Council, believes Monday will be a ‘momentous’ day.

He said: “We are delighted to reach phase one completion on time and on budget and that is largely thanks to the hard work and commitment of all those working on the project.

“The work to build the stadium started last September and in just under a year we have delivered spectator stands, a 3G pitch, and ground floor accommodation and it’s not until you see the sheer scale of the project that you appreciate what has been achieved in such a short space of time – it’s truly impressive.”

He continued: “The handover marks a momentous day for Slough as it is the first time in decades that a brand new leisure facility offering fantastic opportunities to get more people, more active has been delivered by the council and this is just the start as we have great new facilities yet to be built as part of our exciting and ambitious £35 million plan for leisure in Slough.”
