WOODLEY Saints held its 28th annual kids football tournament recently, attracting more than 2,500 youngsters who played in front of more than 4,000 supporters.

The hugely popular event prompted 110 clubs to send 318 teams to the event, with sides coming from as far away as Bedfordshire and Dorset.

There were separate competitions for Under 7s to U15s for strong, average and developing teams, and also the event’s biggest girls competition with matches at U10, U12, U14 and U16.

Individual medals were presented to all winners and runners-up in the main play-offs and consolation competitions.

As the host club, Woodley Saints was delighted to enjoy success in five finals as well as contesting seven others.

The U10 Wolves won their competition with a penalty shootout win over Sherborne Madrid, and the club’s Panthers won the consolation competition with victory over Burghfield Bears.

The U11 Hawks won their consolation competition, overcoming Finchampstead Fire in the final. In the U12s, the Tigers won the main competition with a penalty shoot-out win against AFC Woodcote.

In the U13s it was an all Woodley Saints final as the Kites beat the Cougars.
