WOODLEY-BASED Bulmershe Gymnastics Club aerobics squad continued their competition season at the Heathrow International competition held recently in Bracknell.

As well as UK-based gymnasts, the event also attracted squads from as far afield as China, as well as Belgium, Italy and Sweden.

Combining dynamic dance routines with gymnastics skills, the performers competed as individuals, pairs, trios and groups of five.

Once again, the Bulmershe gymnasts proved their talents, winning medals across many age groups and categories.

Meah Thorngate demonstrated her future potential by winning her Foundation level category, with Danielle Rutland and Amelia Scott both securing gold medals in their age groups at the NAC (National) levels.

Jasmine Potter, Anya Donnelly, Niamh Keane and Marvin Gordon also delivered gold medal-winning performances in the FIG (International) categories.

Further gold medals were awarded to the FIG group and FIG mixed pairs performers in age Group 1 for their dynamic, energetic routines.

This impressive gold rush was hot off the back of 12 of the club’s talented elite gymnasts heading to Korea to represent Great Britain in the World Aerobic Championships.

The trios and groups delivered personal best performances and were rewarded with top 20 placings, with the individuals just missing out on top 20 positions with strong competition from Far East and Eastern European competitors. Coach Holly Lowe was full of praise for the squads, stating: “Our gymnasts have been performing phenomenally well this year and to go to Korea and to hold our own against the best aerobic gymnasts in the world is a huge credit to the team.

"We are all very proud of them.”
