EVERSLEY 2nds remain second bottom of Division 3a following a 64-run home defeat to league leaders Sonning, writes Richard Ashton.

Duncan Parr (78) and Pete Dean (63) were the mainstays of the Sonning batting line-up as the visitors declared on 221-9 after 50 overs, Sam Glaze taking 5-76 and Roni Rezaul 4-48.

James Berger-North top scored with 50 in the Boars’ reply, but a fine spell from Raja Rafaqat (4-29) proved decisive as they were bowled out for 157.

Wokingham’s recent resurgence continued as they climbed to third in Division One following an emphatic 10-wicket destruction of rock bottom Windsor.

Jack Wood (5-37) was the destroyer-in-chief as Windsor were rolled for just 91, and it took just 18.4 overs for the Oaks to chase the runs down.

Wokingham host Kew this coming Saturday (1pm).

Eversley jumped to fourth in Division 2a after they thrashed basement boys Chenies & Latimer by 100 runs.

Phil Wise (72) and Shane Green (52) led the way as the Boars reached 226-8, and John Turner (4-39) and Green (3-37) then starred with the ball as the hosts were knocked over for 126.

Eversley are at home to North Maidenhead on Saturday (1pm).

In Division 2b, Hurst cruised to a seven-wicket win at home to neighbours Wargrave.

Phil Higgs (3-18) and Nick Reynolds (3-22) did the damage for the hosts as they shot out Wargrave for just 102, and although Hurst suffered an early wobble, useful contributions from James Watt (47no) and Lewis Smith (26no) steered their side home.

Hurst travel to Slough 2nds this Saturday (1pm).

Royal Ascot produced a wonderful run chase to beat High Wycombe 2nds by five wickets.

Andy Murray (3-53) and Kevin May (3-63) were the pick of the Ascot attack as High Wycombe made a solid 256-8, but strong contributions from Will Ellison (54no), Rob Handley (48), Jack Kendall (45) and Nick Sweetman (43) ensured the visitors took victory.

Royal Ascot host Chiswick & Whitton on Saturday (1pm).

Wokingham 2nds edged to a narrow three-wicket success at home to Henley 3rds in Division 4b.

Anthony Clapham (5-57) and John Macdonald (3-75) impressed for the Oaks as they bowled Henley out for 234, Hugo Laing (59) and Alex Johnson (51) the standout batsmen.

Simon Carter (56) and Michael Cowdell (55) put Wokingham in a solid position, and further cameos from Craig Beales (31) and Ben Myles (25no) completed the job.

Tyron Winter starred with bat and ball as Bracknell beat mid-table rivals Slough 4ths by four wickets in Division 5b.

He claimed 5-53 as the hosts were bowled out for 183, and Winter then crashed a wonderful 138 not out to seal a tremendous win.

Bracknell are at home to Royal Ascot 2nds this coming Saturday (1pm).

Royal Ascot 2nds had to settle for a draw at home to Aldershot 2nds.

Saeed Ahmed (4-63) and Myles Trainor (3-16) put Ascot in a good position as they bowled the visitors out for 181, although that was something of a recovery from 54-6.

Tony King (39), Henry Chapman (31no) and Howard Green (30) all got starts for the hosts in reply, but no-one could play the match-winning innings and they eventually closed on 174-8 from 61 overs.

Hurst 2nds produced a fine performance to have the better of their draw against runaway Division 6b leaders Wargrave 2nds.

Alex Orme (77), Tim Everitt (71) and Tom Hibbs (55) all made good contributions as the hosts racked up a massive 300-8, and despite Sam Bowers making 102, Wargrave could only reach 215-8 in reply.

Jack Lunghusen blasted 14 boundaries and eight 6s in a supreme innings of 118 for Royal Ascot 3rds as they beat Boyne Hill 3rds by 86 runs.

Murray Barter also made an unbeaten 85 before Ascot declared on 288-3 from just 45 overs, and Mike Wyatt’s 5-49 meant Boyne Hill could only reply with 202.

Wokingham 3rds (128-3) beat Fleet 2nds (124) by seven wickets.

In Division 7a, captain Rob Saunders took 8-37 for Eversley 3rds but was still on the losing side as the Boars were beaten by 95 runs at Maidenhead & Bray 3rds.

Eversley looked on top after bowling the hosts out for 125, but only one of their batsmen made double figures as they were shot out for just 30 in reply.

Bracknell 2nds (65) were thumped by 158 runs at home to North Maidenhead 3rds (223-8).

Wokingham 4ths moved top of Division 8a following their eight-wicket success at Kew 4ths.

Toby Barker (3-31) and Jamie Cable (3-38) were outstanding as Kew were bowled out for 147, and Hasanain Ghafoor’s 46 enabled the Oaks to secure victory.

Vivek Srivastava (135no) and Mike Beaumont (123no) put on an extraordinary unbroken opening partnership of 276 for Newbury 2nds, but Royal Ascot 4ths held on for a draw.

Captain Richard Wyatt (51no) and James McElgunn (46) were key to Ascot reaching 234-7.

Eversley 4ths hung on to deny Datchet 4ths victory as their game ended in a draw.

Datchet declared on 256-6 after just 40 overs, but despite having to face 50 themselves, the Boars survived to close on 133-7.

In Division 9a, Wokingham 5ths enjoyed a thumping 10-wicket win at Newbury 3rds.

Raj Acharya (5-28) and Mark James (4-32) skittled the hosts for 76, and Toqir Khalid ensured there were no dramas with 44 not out.
