GALE and Tom McAuley and Jock Douglas won the Lady Captain’s day competition at West Berks with 77 points.
Tina Mulford, Kevin Wilkins and Malcolm Thwaites were second with 72 and Carole Tancock, Jan Williams and Barrie Seaman were one shot behind in third place.
Lady captain Georgie Seaman organised numerous other prizes and fund raising on the day in aid of the Injured Jockeys Fund and Mencap.
In another strong week for West Berks’ teams, the scratch team beat Sonning 7-0 in a Reading and District Scratch Inter-Club Golf League Division Two fixture while the Central Sevens Golf League team beat Cotswolds 4-3 in a tight Division One match that went to the 18th green of the final game where Tim Howes secured the winning point.
Completing the hat-trick the seniors beat North Wilts 4-2 at home.
Alan Capps won the seniors’ medal with a nett 72, Bob Bridgeman was second with a 75 and Martin Anscombe third on 76.
Meanwhile, Pete Hill won the midweek stableford, his 42 points beating Martin Walton on count-back while David Gentleman was one shot behind in third place.
