SHIPLAKE College students reached a number of finals at the Thames Valley Park Regatta on Sunday.
The J15 B coxed four were the nearest to grabbing glory, losing in the final by just a foot to St George’s College, while year nine student Ben Brockway impressed on his maiden attempt in the single sculls.
The J15 eight were also unfortunate to narrowly miss out on a final place, with Kingston Grammar School edging them out.
Director of rowing, David Currie, commented: “There were 14 Shiplake crews competing this weekend and all had great racing experience. This will hopefully fuel their desire to come back next year and row for the school. It has been a fantastic season for all our younger crews and I am very excited to see them back next year.”
Shiplake’s senior girls raced at Henley Women’s Regatta, but the four, double and single did not make it out of the qualifying stage – just missing out by being the fastest or second fastest non qualifier.
