CAPTAIN Adam Birch made 59 to help his Sandhurst side to a 75-run Division One victory at home to Goring-on-Thames, writes Richard Ashton.

His effort proved crucial in the Camels’ score of 150-9, Pete Slade the pick of the attack with 4-27.

The Goring reply never got going as Dan Bird took fine figures of 4-12, and they were eventually shot out for just 75.

Table-topping Berkshire County Sports suffered a first defeat of the season as they went down by six wickets at home to West Reading 2nds.

Usamah Mahmood was the destroyer-in-chief as BCS were bowled out for 170, and Waseem Ameen (51) and Osman Mahmood (50no) then steered their side to glory.

Tom Heighes (6-43) produced a stunning spell to help Hawley (84-3) to a seven-wicket success against Checkendon (82).

A sensational unbeaten 131 from Steve Clarke guided Stratfield Turgis to an eight-wicket victory at Ibis Mapledurham.

Chris Webber (88) and Dave Drury (57no) were in fine form as the hosts posted a competitive 238-4, but Clarke and Chris Butcher (53no) added an unbroken 136 in Stratfield’s chase of 239-2, claiming the win with 15 balls to spare.

Keerthi Prakash smashed 104 as Sulhamstead 2nds beat Bradfield by five wickets.

Matt Evans (50) led the way for Bradfield as they closed on 187-8, but Prakash’s heroics ensured a comfortable win for Sully.

In the Premier Division, West Reading lost their 100 per cent record after Mortimer West End held on for a draw.

Hafeez Ul-Wahab blasted 73 from just 54 balls and Taskeen Ahmed (59) and Zafar Ali (42) were also in the runs as Wests declared on 271-9 after 44 overs, Andy Trott (4-57) the standout bowler.

In reply, Nick Kingston (44) and Bob Hodson (40no) held up the league leaders, MWE closing on 153-8.

Crowthorne & Crown Wood sealed a three-wicket victory at Emmbrook & Bearwood thanks to a fine unbeaten 80-run stand between Rob Crook (43no) and Mike Brundish (28no).

Archie Carter (82) top scored in Emmbrook’s total of 217-9, Alex Sykes returning the best figures (5-59).

Muhammed Shakeel Arshad (73) gave Crows a perfect start, but when Sean Woodward (5-31) reduced them to 140-7, it looked as though the hosts may take the spoils. However, Crook and Brundish took over and steered their side to victory with more than four overs to spare.

A staggering bowling spell by Doug Macdonald (6-5) inspired reigning champions Sulhamstead to a first win of the season as the visitors downed Woodcote by 86 runs.

Shiva Aruna (49) and Ryan Brown (44) put Sully in a good position at 97-2, but excellent spells from James Worsfold (4-20) and JP Brouard (4-29) saw them dismissed for just 142.

However, Macdonald then ran amok as Cote were dismantled for just 56.

Shakeel Bashir (56) led Woodley (140-4) to a six-wicket win at Welford Park (137), while Peppard Stoke Row’s game at Ruislip Victoria was abandoned due to rain.

Division Two leaders Farley Hill recorded a seventh straight win with a 45-run success at home to Sandhurst 2nds.

Ali Jalil (72) led the way as Farley Hill posted 213-7, and despite Chris Pharo’s 68, the Camels could only reach 168 in reply. Johan Vorster (4-23) was the outstanding bowler for the hosts.

Crowthorne & Crown Wood 2nds dominated their draw at home to Emmbrook & Bearwood 2nds.

Dan Cartledge (45) top scored as Crows reached 218-7, but despite Nirav Upadhyay taking 4-17, Emmbrrok survived on 92-7.

Waltham St Lawrence produced a stunning run chase to beat Peppard Stoke Row 2nds by four wickets.

Richard Walker (67) and Olly Nicholson (58no from 34 balls) helped PSR amass a formidable 261-4, but that proved insufficient after Ankush Ghandi (88 from 47 balls), Sree Venkata (65no) and Andy Maliff (58 from 52 balls) got going, Saints claiming victory with 17 balls remaining.

Stratfield Turgis conceded their game against Earley.

Twyford & Ruscombe annihilated Sulhamstead 3rds by 200 runs to stay top of Division Three.

Oscar Woodbridge (78) and Marc Teal (57) put on 126 for the first wicket before Twyford eventually reached a massive 293-7.

That was far too many for Sully, with all six of Twyford’s bowlers taking at least one wicket as they skittled their opponents for just 93.

Ashley Gander struck 53 not out at better than a run-a-ball to help Warfield (79-1) thrash Knowl Hill (78-9) by nine wickets.

Tejpal Singh (124) and Fasul Nufail (63) were in fine form as Purley-on-Thames 3rds dominated their draw at home to Mortimer West End 2nds.

The Potters amassed an impressive 261-5, with MWE only able to reach 138-6 in reply.

Paul Bailey and Ian Freeland both scored 52 as Ruislip Victoria 2nds (233-8) defeated West Reading 3rds (200) by 33 runs.

Matthew Bullock blasted an astonishing 115 not out from just 78 balls as Welford Park 2nds (259-6) had the better of their draw with Woodley 2nds (203-8). Tajdar Jawaid made 51 for the hosts in their run chase.

Hassan Safdar (4-16) inspired Division Four favourites Shinfield 2nds (201-7 declared after 40 overs) to a convincing 123-run win against Binfield 3rds.

Falkland Development (206-7) eased past Emmbrook & Bearwood 3rds (105) by 101 runs, while Crowthorne & Crown Wood 3rds destroyed Hawley 2nds by 10 wickets to climb to third in the table.

Aran Long took 4-16 as Hawley were shot out for a mere 25 before Crows knocked the runs off.

The game between Waltham St Lawrence 2nds and Peppard Stoke Row 3rds was postponed due to no ground being available. It will now be played on September 10.
