BERKSHIRE women’s dreams of a county final were shattered by a superb showing from Surrey, who ran out 34-10 winners at Maidenhead on Sunday.
The visitors ran in six tries, two converted, thanks to a well-drilled and technically superior squad. Berkshire were on defensive duty for the first half as the visitors raced to a 22-0 lead.
Berkshire came back after the break to match Surrey’s second half effort, both sides scoring two tries, Surrey converting one.
Wing Nichol Berger of Henley touched down in the 51st-minute to lift Berkshire’s spirits with Rachel Humphries from Windsor rounding off the scoring on the dot of full time.
