WRIGHTCHOICE CSA are celebrating a famous victory at Madejski Stadium after beating AFC Newbury Colts to secure the South Chiltern Minor League Under 18 Chronicle Cup.
AFC Newbury put up a brave fight last Friday night, but Wrightchoice ticked all the boxes to claim a 2-0 win and the silverware.
Wrightchoice controlled most of the game and a goal in each half from Cameron Komba and Kuda Kwedza saw them home in style.
There were a number of eye-catching displays from both teams, with Wrightchoice’s Junaid Bailey named man of the match.
Meanwhile, the SCML U18 League is moving to the Reading & West Berkshire League next season.
RWBL are also introducing an U16-U18 League for the 2016/17 campaign aimed at giving older players a clear pathway into U18s and men’s football.
Phil Marsh of the SCML and R&WBL explained: “By allowing a mixture of ages from U16 to U18 to play together on the same team, clubs can pool resources from three age groups to create a team with strength in depth.
“Each season a fresh group of U16s can join as the U18s move on after their last season.”
RWBL will also be running a cup competition for the new age group, with the final played at Reading’s Madejski Stadium.
