READING Blue Coat U12As finished off a superb unbeaten season with an excellent 3-1 win against Forest School in the County Cup final.

The first half started with Blue Coat having most of the possession, however chances were hard to come by on a sticky pitch which both teams struggled to get used to.

The eventual champions (pictured right) saw a number of chances sail just past the post and were unlucky not to find the back of the net, but they then found themselves 1-0 down as a well-taken free-kick found the top corner.

The second half kicked off with Blue Coat continuing to look the better side.

Ellis Riley was excellent in defence and Harry Wardle was dominating the midfield, which began to open pockets of space for others to run in to.

This lead to a corner being earned and Tom Dexter whipped in a great cross which was met by Matt Kirk at the back post to equalise.

Not long after, Dexter sent in another great ball from a free-kick which caused problems for the Forest defence and Harry Martin slotted home after a goalmouth scramble to put Blue Coat in to a well-deserved lead. As Forest pressed for an equaliser they left themselves open to the counter-attack and the pace of Webb, Sam Hawes and James Hayden produced a number of chances.

Eventually one of these chances was taken as Hawes broke down the left and put Hayden in on goal who coolly slotted home to make it 3-1.

Forest continued to press and Marcus Baines had to be alert to make a number of decent saves in the last few minutes, but he would not be beaten and the final whistle sparked fantastic celebrations among his teammates and supporters.

Goals from Calum Brighton, Luke Hayden, Tom Halson and Mike Green ensured the school’s 1st XI completed a memorable double as they beat Reading School 4-2 in their County Cup final at Thatcham Town FC.
