READING Irish moved to the brink of the Senior Division title with 4-2 and 4-0 wins against Southcote and Richfield Rovers respectively putting them two points clear of Dee Road Rangers at the top of the table, writes Richard Ashton.

A home victory against lowly Eastern Rangers on Sunday would secure the championship in the club’s first season back in the top flight.

Richfield Rovers had previously hammered Whitley Tavern 4-0, Reading YMCA ended their season with a 4-3 win in a thriller at Barton Rovers, and Southcote crushed Kidmore End 6-0.

Free-scoring Barton Rovers secured a 5-4 victory at Kidmore End on Tuesday night.

The Premier Division title race was blown wide open after Burghfield suffered a shock 2-0 defeat at Roebuck.

The second-placed side therefore stayed level on points with table-toppers The Tilehurst Club with two games to go, and the two sides still have to face each other. The leaders have a far better goal difference, however.

Burghfield had previously beaten Woodley United 3-0, while the table-toppers were gifted three points after Roebuck conceded their game.

Fourth-placed The Mod ended their campaign with a 2-2 draw against the side one place below them in the league, Tilehurst YM.

Division One champions Woodley Wanderers were pushed all the way before beating 116 Exiles 3-2, while AFC Burghfield collected three points after Henley Town conceded their game.

Third-placed AFC Burghfield went on to secure a 1-0 win against FC Woodley on Tuesday, and The Pub beat S.C. United 3-1. 

Polonia Reading jumped off the foot of the table by thrashing new basement boys S.C. United 6-2 on Sunday.

AFC Pangbourne have secured the Division Two title after beating Imaan 3-1, smashing Athletico Forest 5-2 and then enjoying a 4-0 demolition of AFC Burghfield Reserves.

Emmbrook Inn gave Arborfield three points and also lost 3-1 to Warwick Arms, while also drawing 2-2 with Pangbourne & Basildon Barbarians.

Arborfield drew 2-2 with Warwick Arms before losing 2-1 to AFC Burghfield Reserves, although the victors in that game lost 3-1 at home to Athletico Forest.

Loxwood conceded their home game against second-placed Le Galaxy, who then collected three more points by beating Pangbourne & Basildon Barbarians 2-0 on Tuesday night.

Imaan edged past Warwick Arms 2-1.

Eldon Celtic completed an unbeaten season in Division Three East thanks to a 3-1 victory at third-placed Spencers Wood.

The beaten side bounced back to winning ways with a 3-2 home win against FC Forest and will take the runners-up spot if they beat Mapledurham – who are currently second – in their final match of the season.

In Division Three West, Reading Town endured a mixed week, losing 2-0 to Tilehurst Titans before beating Southbank Reserves 3-1.

Tilehurst also smashed Park Villa 8-0.

Whitley Athletic overcame AFC Basildon 2-1 but then lost to Southbank Reserves 3-1, while Coley Park picked up two wins, downing AFC Basildon 3-1 and Theale 3-2.

Basildon did enjoy one victory during the week, thrashing Woolhampton CFC 5-0. Park Villa conceded their game against Woolhampton to gift them three more points, but they forfeited against champions Tilehurst Club Reserves.

Kings United made sure of the Division Four East title with a 4-0 drubbing of Caversham United.

Division Four West basement boys Westfield Athletic were thumped 11-0 by high-flying YPFC, but they did secure just a second point of the season with a 1-1 draw against Burghfield Reserves.

Champions Mortimer Reserves crushed New England 7-1, while Kennet Valley beat 116 Exiles A 5-3.
