READING Wildcats hosted the annual south of England six-a-side tournament at the Rivers Ibis Club on Saturday.
Spectators came from as far away as Nanaimo (home of the Timbermen Lacrosse Club), Canada to see lacrosse in England is thriving.
In the final event of the season, 20 teams took part, including two from the Wildcats, and, for the first time, a Reading School side.
Reading Wildcats 1sts finished third overall, beating Cambridge 4-2 in the play-off.
However, they may have done even better but for an unfortunate accident to star attacker Will Stott, who required urgent medical attention when he was hit in the chest by the ball.
Stott was stabilised by paramedics and taken to the Royal Berkshire Hospital for further treatment. He has now recovered.
Hitchin won the Senior Trophy for the second season in a row, beating Walcountian Blues 5-4 in an tight final.
In the Intermediate Trophy, Spencer continued their amazing season by winning 4-1 against Hillcroft, and Oxford University won the Minor Trophy with a 2-1 against Hitchin 2nds.
