The first Tom Evans Foursomes event of the year at Calcot Park got off to a wet start but it did not dampen the spirits of those taking part.

The top three places were filled by leading figures in the club, the winners being Assistant PGA Professional, Alex Lodge and his partner, Peter Knott (pictured with club captain David Wyeth, centre). They totalled 38 points.

Second place went to another Assistant PGA Professional, Tim Newton and his partner, Alan Campbell, who also picked up 38 points but were beaten on countback..

Wyeth and his partner, Trevor Robinson, finished third with 37 points.

The club has extended some of its special membership packages introduced during its 85th anniversary.

Targeted at the casual golfer, the silver associate package (£350) includes 12 rounds of golf with the option to buy a maximum of eight additional rounds at the members’ guest rate of £25.

The gold associate package (£1,500) offers unlimited golf at any time during the year.

The student associate package (£350) allows people in full-time education to play throughout the year.

Golfers taking advantage of these packages are unable to play when competitions are taking place.
