WHITEKNIGHTS beat Mid Glos I.B.C. 83-66 to reach the last eight of the national Denny Cup.

The Earley-based club won three of the four rinks with the top group skipped by Andy Knapper with John Smith, Michael Giles and Les Sabatini. They won by 17 shots.

RIVERMEAD Ladies cruised to an impressive 79-51 victory against Trentham.

Although having an equal number of winning rinks it was Val Ryan rink's 34-5 win over Carol Cooke that ensured success.

Allowing their opponents just five single shots over the 18 ends, Rivermead rattled up four counts of four on her way to the match-winning score.

Trentham's Silvia Coston looked to be on a match-saving mission with her rink when they stood 14-4 up with three ends to play, only for Rivermead's rink led by Jacqui Wood to pick up seven shots to finish a respectable three shots down.

It was the reverse for Trentham's Kath Charlton who from 15-11 down after 14 ends picked up eight unanswered shots against Daphne Jacob to hand in a 18-15 winning card.
