HARI Gehlot and Mark Banks trebles gave Kingfisher A a 7-3 win at Sonning Common & Peppard A in Division One of the Reading & District League.

Jason Roberts, Keith Swain and Malcolm Gregory all earned wins against Stuart Williams for Sonning. 

The win for Kingfisher keeps them poised behind leaders Our Lady of Peace A. A Philip Zheng treble and two from Richard Fifield saw Kingfisher C beat Curzon Club A 6-4, John Wilcocks with two for Curzon including a good 11-13 10-12 11-9 11-9 11-8 victory over Fifield.

Csaba Pall was the star as Tidmarsh A won 7-3 at YMCA, Duncan Groves holding off Dave Streak 7-11 11-6 4-11 11-6 11-6 to put his team 5-1 ahead. Kingfisher D beat a two-man Kingfisher B side 7-3, despite another maximum from the B teams Martin Adams.

Simon Berry and Jeremy Willis both got maximums as Sonning Common & Peppard B beat Sonning Common & Peppard E 9-1 in Division Two, Jeremy just getting the better of Joe Barraclough 13-11 5-11 11-7 23-25 11-9.

Early five-game wins by Colin Dyke against Nigel Keedy and Rob Gladstone against Richard Leachman set Kingfisher E won their way to an 8-2 derby success over Kingfisher G, while Matt Stone and Danny Dockree both got maximums as Sonning Common & Peppard C beat Kingfisher F 7-3, Matt beating Allan Bruton 11-3 7-11 11-6 7-11 11-9 in a key opening set.

Joe Barraclough’s fine hat-trick saw Sonning Common & Peppard E earn a point at Pangbourne WMC A, Barraclough beating John Simmonds 12-14 11-6 5-11 12-10 11-9. Rob Gladstone and Grant Wheatley both got trebles as Kingfisher E beat Sonning Common & Peppard C 8-2.

Sonning Common & Peppard B reclaimed top spot after winning their re-arranged fixture against Kingfisher F 6-4.

In Division Three doubles from Eric Holmes, Dave Duncan and Steve Woolnough helped Kingfisher H win 7-3 at Fading Curzon Club B. Birch Copse A slipped to another defeat when they lost 7-3 to Pangbourne WMC B for whom Ray Webb and Clive Taylor both hit trebles.

Kingfisher I had a vital 6–4 win over Our Lady of Peace D to give themselves a chance of avoiding the drop. Nils Wedi did the business by winning all three and was ably backed by Joaquin Sabater who gained a double.

At the top second-placed Tilehurst Methodists A won 8-2 at Milestone A, Phil Jones was the star by gaining a maximum. The next day Milestone A hosted leaders Kingfisher J and went down 7-3, David Joyce for the birds hit a good treble. In a Tilehurst Methodists derby the A team beat the B team 8–2 with Phil Jones and Cath Venning both gaining hat-tricks.

Chris Speight was the hero of the night with a final set win over John Walker to give Springfield B a close 6-4 win over Curzon Club C in Division Four.

Gwynne Penny and Gill Bennett shared the limelight with trebles as Kingfisher K won 8-2 against Sonning Common & Peppard F to lift themselves away from the relegation places.

Chris Taylor incredibly lost all his sets in five as top of the table Tidmarsh E trounced Tilehurst Methodists C 10-0, while in a very even match bottom-of-the-table Milestone B worked hard but just lost out 6-4 to mid table Our Lady of Peace E.

The big promotion match in Division Five was comfortably won by second-placed Tilehurst Methodists D as they beat leaders Reading FC Community Trust in style 9-1.

Steve Dopson and Rob James both got maximums with Rob beating Mark Edwards 8-11 11-9 11-6 9-11 11-6 in a key early set. Reading FC Community Trust bounced straight back to form with a 10-0 hammering of BBC Club.

Third-placed Kingfisher L were held to a 5-5 draw by Our Lady of Peace F while Springfield C gained a 7-3 win against Birch Copse B thanks to doubles from Robert Atack, Colin Jones and Aidan Simmons.
