SLOUGH Town got back to winning ways in the Southern Premier Division with a 3-1 victory away at Dunstable Town on Tuesday evening.

The Rebels had been beaten in their last two league matches, against Kings Lynn Town and Stratford Town, but recovered from falling a goal behind to secure all three points at Creasey Park.

Dunstable had a game plan that comprised getting an early goal against the balance of play and then defending, however fortuitously, to hang on to that lead.

However, Slough ripped up that script and imposed their own agenda to dominate for all but the first 20 minutes of the match.

Dunstable endured a gruelling win over Weymouth last weekend and Rebels pushed hard to expose whatever frailties they could, and in this they were slick and successful.

They concentrated throughout on playing decent pass and move football, and once they went behind it seemed inevitable that they would equalise, despite the near heroic saves that accumulated for a very busy, Paul Bastock.

The hosts took the lead on 15 minutes when a fervent long pass from Victor Osobu saw Connor Calcutt run onto the ball and finish somewhat nobly.

It surprised no-one that Slough drew level with a penetrative attack in the 52nd minute. The equaliser was netted at close range by Charlie Strutton, despite initial defiance from Bastock with the Dunstable defence merely spectators.

The home team then tried to beef-up their own attack with the addition of John Frendo, but he had a torrid time and was shown a straight red card late in the game for violent conduct.

Warren Harris made it 2-1 in smart fashion on 73 minutes and no-one could deny that it was entirely deserved.

Charlie Mpi made it 3-1 seven minutes later and a ragged Dunstable stuttered towards another home defeat.

Frendo’s dismissal was more for intent as, although he made no initial contact with a player, he did simulate a headbutt.

Slough do not have a fixture to fulfill this Saturday but return to action for the visit to Holloways Park of Biggleswade Town next Tuesday (7.45pm).

SLOUGH Town Under-13s had to dig deep to maintain their winning ways in the Berks & Bucks Minors Cup with a 4-3 victory over Maidenhead.

The Rebels were 3-1 ahead when an injury to keeper Nojus Trinovas turned the match on its head and Maidenhead managed to equalise just before full-time.

However, Slough showed incredible character in extra-time and Philbert Arko scored the winning goal. The other goals came from Alex Lopez, Tom King and a wonder strike from David Martin.

Two goals from Ellis Boyles and Jake Bone, and one from Bubba, saw Rebels U12s secure a 5-1 win, whilst the U11 Rebels and youth teams both managed draws with Burnham.
