CALCOT Park’s Junior golf team, led by captain Callum Russell, have secured the Thames Valley Junior League title for the first time in nine years.

They then went on to win the Stags Knockout Trophy for the first time since 2007, beating Wentworth and Stoke Park before clinically finishing the job with a 6-0 whitewash in the second leg of the final against Sand Martins GC to win 8-4 overall.

The juniors also beat Calcot Park’s Board of Directors 3-1, securing a third straight victory in the annual match.

ANDY King (11hcp) posted his best competition 18-hole score since joining Caversham Heath in the November Midweek Stableford.

A very solid 18 points on the front gave King the foundation to build on, which he did in style with 20 points on the back nine to win Division One with 38 points.

Roger Landon (13hcp) got off to a superb start, scoring 21 points on the front nine. Although he birdied the 16th, he had to settle for second on 37 points – a bogey on the last costing him dearly.

Jose Fernandez Moure (13hcp) was third with 35 points.

Division Two saw an equally close finish with David Cumming (28hcp) taking the honours, on countback from Adrian Ford (25hcp), both with 34 points. An important par on the 17th proved decisive for Cummings. Lady captain Jane Weller (24hcp) was third with 33 points, while twos were recorded by King and Mark Oglesby, both on the 13th hole.

Caversham Heath Ladies finished third in their first season in the Silver League.

In the Bronze League Caversham Ladies performed supremely well to whitewash Reading 6-0 at Donnington Valley. All three pairings enjoyed comfortable wins – Kjersti Cannon and Jane Weller won 5&3, Pam Stapeley and Kathy North triumphed 3&2 and Sarah Lau and Caroline Dover were victorious 5&4.

Jack Bristow (22hcp) won the latest Junior Stableford on countback from Callum Peart (5hcp), both with 25 points. Third was Will Tate (7hcp) with 17 points.
