SLOUGH Town continued their recent revival with a 2-1 win at Histon on Saturday, their third victory in seven days.

Rebels’ Lewis Putman opened the scoring with a free-kick 30-yards from goal in the 42nd minute.

Just as he had done against Dorchester last week, Putman stepped up and struck home, the ball nestling in the bottom corner.

There was still time in the first period for both sides to go close. A curling effort from Histon’s Jordan Nicholson was cleared off the line by Adrian Sear.

Warren Harris’s cross found Charlie Strutton in space and he volleyed a looping effort over Denzel Gerrar, only to see the ball rebound back off the crossbar.

Slough started the second-half brightly and Declan Benjamin hit a long-range shot, which crashed off the corner of the woodwork.

On 65 minutes, Sean Fraser had a big hand in Rebels’ second goal, which was to prove decisive.

The full-back swung in a free-kick from out wide, which Charlie Mpi headed back across goal and past the despairing dive of Gerrar.

Three minutes later though, the lead was halved when Mark Scott parried a shot straight into the path of Tom McGowan, who scored easily.

Slough, now up to 13th place in the Southern Premier Division table, welcome bottom side Paulton Rovers to Holloways Park this Saturday (3pm).

Rebels are in League Cup action on Tuesday when Chesham United make the short trip fro a first round tie (7.45pm)

Nine-man Burnham suffered a 2-1 defeat against Bishops Cleeve at The Gore, their third loss in seven days.

Having already hit the bar, Blues took the lead when a slick passing move saw the ball fall to Kensley Maloney, who danced past three defenders and curled a shot beyond an unsighted Matt Wieczorek.

Cleeve levelled just before the break as Elliot Kennedy whipped a cross to the back post where Jordan Bryan was waiting to score.

The hosts were reduced to 10-men early in the second-half when Mahmoud Kadi reluctantly left the field after a second yellow card.

Cleeve scored from the resulting free-kick with Aaron Drake finding Leroy Odeiro, who timed his run perfectly to touch the ball past the keeper.

Burnham were reduced to nine players late on after Kane Jones saw red for kicking Jack Watts when the ball was out of play.

Blues, now in 16th place in Southern Division One South & West table, welcome Tiverton Town to The Gore on Saturday.

Burnham are in League Cup first round action on Tuesday when they travel to Godalming Town (7.45pm).
