FORMER Windsor star Levi Thackery is at the centre of a transfer row between FC Foxes and the East Berkshire Football League.

Thackery has recently been released by Windsor and hopes to sign for Foxes, who play in Division Two of the East Berks League.

However, league officials have blocked the move as the player has featured in more than three matches for the step five club – under rule 8(D), he may only now play for a Premier or Division One club.

The decision has sparked outrage from Foxes boss, Billy Kefford, who has sought advice from the Football Association and could appeal the decision.

He said: “Levi wants to play football with his family at Foxes and I put in a request for him to sign as he wasn’t under contract by Windsor and was free to leave.

“But the league committee had to have a meeting and have voted not to let him play in Division Two, which I find not acceptable.

“He has cousins and family members that play for me at Foxes and just wants to enjoy his football with no hassle, but the committee are stopping this from happening.

“I’m awaiting a response to this saga and hope that Levi gets the granted permission to play as, at the end of the day, people at our level don’t get paid and it’s all about enjoying the game.”

The East Berks Football League has declined to comment until the matter has been resolved.

Premier Division club Lynchpin are also rumoured to be interested in Thackery.

Have your say now, should Levi Thackery be allowed to play in Division Two of the East Berkshire Football League?
