SLOUGH Town ended a run of four straight defeats with a 2-1 win against Bideford at Holloways Park on Saturday.

The Rebels endured a torrid September, just two wins from seven matches, but two Charlie Mpi goals secured a much-needed victory.

A Josh Grant strike on 29 minutes gave Bideford a half-time lead. The visitors also hit the bar before the break.

Slough pegged them back in the 59th minute when Mpi fired in. He then made it 2-1 with another close-range finish two minutes later.

Mpi came close to a first hat-trick in Rebels’ colours when another effort hit the bar.

In the final minutes of normal time, Bideford’s Ben Gerring was sent off for a second yellow card. Ian Sampson also saw red for a late challenge.

Slough remain in 20th place in the Southern Premier Division table ahead of the visit from Dorchester Town on Tuesday (7.45pm).

The Rebels travel to Histon this Saturday (3pm).

Burnham are out of this season’s FA Trophy after a 2-0 preliminary round defeat against Dorking Wanderers on Saturday.

It was Paul Mulvaney’s first official match in charge of the Blues, but he was unable to secure victory at The Gore.

Phil Page opened the scoring with a penalty on 68 minutes, and Tom Tolfrey netted three minutes from the finish to secure the tie.

Burnham return to action in Southern Division One South & West on Wednesday (7.45pm) with a trip to Slimbridge.

The Blues return to The Gore to host Bishops Cleeve this Saturday (3pm).

Windsor made progress in the FA Vase following a 2-1 second qualifying round win against Royal Wootton Bassett after extra time on Saturday.

The home team took the lead midway through the first half when new signing Charlie Samuel headed home at the back post.

It was not until the 85th minute that Wootton Bassett were finally able to find a way past Windsor, captain Steve Yeardley netted to force an additional half hour.

The tie was decided in the ninth minute of extra time when Omar Riaz strode forward before beating Luke Kuczynski.

Windsor are away at Horley Town on Tuesday (7.45pm) and then Colliers Wood United on Saturday (3pm), both fixtures in the Combined Counties Premier Division.
