ANTHONY White scored two injury-time goals as a late, late show from Highmoor Ibis secured them a 3-1 win at Abingdon United in the Hellenic League Premier Division on Saturday.

Marcus Richardson’s side had the better of the chances in the first half as Sanchez Commock and Anthony White (pictured right) both looked lively, although the latter wasted two excellent opportunities

to put his side in front.

After a goalless opening 45 minutes, Highmoor upped the tempo in the second half but again wayward finishing from White meant the game remained 0-0 at the hour mark.

This was enough for Richardson to introduce himself and 17-year-old Milan Barra – making his first team debut – and the decision paid dividends immediately.

A flick from Richardson allowed Mo Davies to break down the right and a sublime lob from 25 yards saw Tom Plumridge stranded as the ball sailed over him into the net.

The visitors then enjoyed their best spell of the match but their profligacy was punished when Abingdon launched a rare attack and equalised on 80 minutes through Jamie Essex.

The Oxfordshire side then had a strong penalty appeal for a handball by White turned down before hitting the bar.

Yet there was a final sting in the tail as Highmoor moved the ball to the other end and Davies broke in from the right.

His squared cross was tapped in by White on 91 minutes and with the last kick of the game, Richardson broke into the box and he again squared for the unmarked White to tap in for his second.

Mitchell Parker scored a brilliant 25 yard free-kick but Highmoor slipped to a 2-1 defeat at Thame United on Tuesday.

Highmoor will aim to end Highworth Town’s 100 per cent record on Saturday (3pm) and visit Binfield in the Floodlit Cup on Monday (7.45pm).
