HIGHMOOR Ibis picked up four points from six in the past week with a 4-2 victory at Brackley Town Saints on Saturday and a 1-1 draw at Kidlington on Tuesday night.

Ibis player-manager Marcus Richardson was missing six regular starters for the trip to Brackley and handed Mo Davies a first start of the season.

Davies grabbed the opportunity and five minutes in won a penalty when he was pulled back by Charlie Wise which Devonn Reid put away.

A Davies volley then doubled Ibis’ lead in the 10th minute, only for Brackley to pull one back eight minutes later when Matt Hammond lobbed Rob Tebby.

Ibis then saw their advantage wiped out when Matt Johnson scored for the hosts to make it 2-2, but they regained the lead just before the break when a deep cross from Frankie Boamah sailed over Dan

Farrell’s head and into the Brackley net.

The second half was not so frenetic due to the heat, and Ibis made sure of all three points in the 71st minute when substitute Aston Robinson lobbed Farrell after a neat one-two with Sanchez Commock.

Ibis’ unbeaten week continued on Tuesday night with a 1-1 draw away to a strong Kidlington outfit.

The visitors survived a scare early in the second half when Tebby saved a penalty after Boamah had fouled Tom Castle.

It was a brief reprieve as Kiddy’s Kristian Thomas was allowed too much time on the ball before firing home to give the hosts 57th minute lead.

Ibis, though, refused to give in and they grabbed an equaliser five minutes before the end.

Substitute Richardson put himself on and was in the right place to score from a rebound after Commock’s initial effort had been saved by Sam Warrell.

Ibis face a trip to Abingdon United this Saturday (4pm) then Thame United on Tuesday (7.45pm).

WOODLEY United FC suffered their third straight loss in Hellenic Division One East with a 1-0 reverse at Headington Amateurs on Saturday.

All of Woodley’s three league fixtures so far have been away from home and all have ended in defeat.

The visitors were under the cosh from the early stages when Headington’s Aftab Hafiz crashed a shot against the crossbar.

Woodley’s Bevan Van Wyk was denied by Harry Jenkins at the other end only for the woodwork to thwart Headington for a second time when Drew Fowler rattled the bar.

Fowler also saw a brace of headers turned over the bar by Dan Smith, but the Headington player eventually grabbed the winner in the second half when he bundled home from close range from a poorly defended corner.

Woodley United travel to Didcot Town Reserves this Saturday (3pm).
