STEVE Clarke says Reading are on the verge of getting it right - despite another frustrating day at the Madejski Stadium.

The Royals dominated against MK dons and went close on numerous occasions, but they couldn't find the elusive goal and had to settle for a point.

It means Clarke's side are still yet to register a victory this season but home supporters would've been encouraged by what they saw today.

Those sentiments were shared by the Reading boss and he insisted it's important to stay positive despite results not matching performances at the moment.

“We’re doing a hell of a lot right,” he said. “This is the point I want to get across. As a group and as a team we’re doing a lot right.

“I can’t handle the ones who just want to say negative, negative negative, It has to be more positive.

“This is a good team. We have a chance.

“If you keep doing the right things at the right time and you don’t concede silly goals, eventually you will start to winning matches.

“And when you start to win matches in this division, you get on a little run.”

Reading haven't scored at the Madejski stadium since April 4 – a run of six league matches at the back end of last season until no.

Clarke was left frustrated by suggestions that the same problems continue to plague the team in front of goal, insisting last season has nothing to do with their troubles at the start of this campaign.

“Why do people always go back to April 4th or whenever?” he asked. “We start from this season. It’s a different team, different group. Everything is different.

“This season we haven’t scored many goals. You watch the game, we have bossed them from start to finish and we create chances.

“What do want me to do to my players? I have to tell them that if we keep playing like this, I’m convinced we will be in the top half of the table come the second half of the season.”
